"Boys of Summer" co-director/producer

"Boys of Summer" is a documentary presented by Daily News featuring the Wahpeton, North Dakota, American Legion Baseball team. Filmmakers Robert Wanek Jr., Madison Nelson-Gira and Noah Clooten follow the program throughout its 2023 state championship season, bringing small-town baseball to the big screen with hard-hitting highlights and in-depth player interviews. This special group of ballplayers compiled a 108-19 record over the past three summers, making them one of the most successful legion programs in the United States. The film premiered December 2023 inside the 500-seat Bremer Bank Theatre at North Dakota State College of Science. The documentary was awarded "Best Use of Social Media" at the 2024 Better Newspaper Contest.

This college football documentary takes viewers to Wahpeton, North Dakota, following the 2024 North Dakota State College of Science (NDSCS) football season. Competing in the lowest level of college football (NJCAA DIII), the Wildcats prove that all levels can play, grinding their way to a conference championship and providing some incredible highlights along the way. From 51-year-old nose guard Ray Ruschel, to NJCAA Defensive Player of the Year Sammy Miller, the Wildcats hit the big screen with a full cast of playmakers and some adversity throughout the film.
